Your Friends at Aurora Organic Dairy.

The founders of Aurora Organic Dairy have over 35 years of experience with and dedication to the organic mission. We are organic stewards; keepers of the path to create an agricultural system that can be sustained for generations to come – restoring, preserving, enhancing and nurturing the vital natural resources of the earth upon which we all depend for life, health and well-being.

The organic mission encompasses a philosophy, a set of practices and a vision for a way of life that cares for and enhances the health and vitality of natural systems –- soil and water, plants and animals, land and facilities, humans and their communities. This mission includes a set of standardized practices about what and how a farm or a processing facility can be managed.

But that is not all. The organic mission strives to look at the total system –- to use resources wisely, to create business models that leave a light footprint upon the earth, to develop means to restore the delicate balances of ecosystems upset by years of non-sustainable farming methods and to understand that healthy food comes from healthy soil, plants and animals.

Decades ago it became obvious that existing agricultural methods were the single largest point of pollution in the United States. The shift, beginning in the 1930s and 1940s, to models of agriculture that relied heavily on synthetic and chemical fertilizers, widespread use of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides and the reliance on a fossil-fuel driven food economy eventually resulted in the far-reaching contamination of our water and air, as well as the erosion and deadening of once nutrient-rich soil. We believe there are practical, innovative ways out of this mess.

One way to improve agriculture is with Organic –- the philosophy, the method and the path to creating sustainable systems of food production, local economies, and life-oriented business. We are stewards of this path and we have created our business model to encompass all of the far-reaching goals of organic systems –- from animal health to waste management, from use of renewable resources to water conservation, from the organic conversion of cultivated acres to the human-positive work environment we’ve created. We embody the fact of Organic as a wide-reaching, far-sighted system of animal, land, manufacturing and economic development.

Please take the time to read through the many segments of the Organic Stewardship and Sustainability sections of our website to learn how deeply we are invested in this mission.
